We encourage you to stay vigilant and remain aware and up to date with the current and evolving tactics used by fraudsters to try and prey on unsuspecting members of the public.

Here are a few scenarios to look out for:

1. Fraudulent SMSs – Like "Tuma ile pesa kwa hii number" or tuko na new account ya kulipia rent and they end up defrauding you your hard-earned cash.
2. Fraudulent callers – They impersonate as Equity Staff calling to offer you assistance with Equitel line upgrade, Equity Mobile app update, and in the process, they guide you to send out money to them unknowingly.
3. Imposters – They visit homes or markets posing as staff from Equitel or other companies like Equity Afia, NHIF etc. out to register you for services. They ask for your phone and in the process, they steal your Sim cards and access your bank accounts and mobile wallets.

Remember, Equity only calls through 0763 000 000 and all SMS from Equity have the sender ID as Equity or Equitel. Report any fraudulent callers or SMS by sending the number to 333.
